UFL To Host Team Scrimmages In 2023

by UFL Staff

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The United Football League (UFL) is pleased to announce a unique and innovative approach to the 2023 season. In a departure from traditional game formats, the UFL will host team scrimmages instead of regular season games. This decision aims to provide an immersive and engaging experience for players and fans while promoting team development and fostering a stronger sense of community within the league.

The UFL has made several delays to the start of the 2023 season, with the initial kickoff date set for April 1st and a second kickoff date set for July 24th. With sponsorship and executive suite level sales still needing to meet league expectations, the league has decided to focus game production efforts on 2024 while at the same time establishing creditability within individual team markets. The UFL will host team OTA's and team scrimmages throughout the late spring and fall. Each UFL team will host up to eight OTA and team scrimmage events from July through November. These events will be open to the public and free of charge as the league works to establish team brands within the individual markets.

The UFL has always been at the forefront of embracing change and pushing boundaries in the world of football. This decision to replace games with team scrimmages for the 2023 season is another testament to the league's commitment to innovation and fan satisfaction. At the same time, the UFL's willingness to innovate demonstrates the league's unrelenting determination to get the fourteen-team league on solid footing without decrementing the league's long-term viability.

Team scrimmages will create an intimate and interactive environment where fans can witness the growth and progress of their favorite teams up close. By eliminating the pressure of official games, coaches and players can experiment with different strategies, formations, and tactics, ultimately enhancing their overall performance on the field.

Additionally, team scrimmages will provide a platform for emerging talent to showcase their skills and compete for starting positions. This exciting opportunity will benefit the individual players and contribute to the league's overall competitiveness and quality.

All currently signed and registered players will be free to participate in the team scrimmages allowing players to create solid game footage for career advancement.

While team scrimmages will replace regular season games for the 2023 season, fans can still expect the same level of competitiveness, excitement, and entertainment that the UFL has always delivered. The league remains dedicated to providing a high-quality football experience and ensuring fans have unforgettable moments throughout the season.

2023 single-game and season ticket reimbursements and transfers will begin immediately, with the UFL hoping to have all ticket buyers reimbursed or transferred over to 2024 within the next four to six weeks.

More details on team scrimmages and OTA events will be released in the coming weeks. For more UFL news and updates, please continue to visit uflfootball.com
